The schedule

Davis is the bike capital of the United States: the first city in America to stripe a bike lane, the first ever awarded Platinum by the League of American Bicyclists, home of the US Bicycling Hall of Fame, and laid out with 108 miles of bike lanes and 63 miles of paths. Of course Halloween here arrives on two wheels. The festival is Saturday, October 31, 2026, and Halloween runs all month around it, so come for the day or make a car-free Halloweekend of it: step off the train, borrow a bike, and never touch a car.

The bike parade
11am to 12:30pm
The Zombie Bike ParadeEveryone is welcome at Community Park for the festival: on foot, on any wheels, in a wheelchair or powerchair, or pushing a stroller. The official bike parade is different. It rides just under five miles at a regular biking pace, so it is for bicycles (including e-bikes, cargo bikes, tandems and bike trailers) and only for riders who can keep that pace for the whole route. Helmets are required under 18 and strongly encouraged for everyone. If the parade is not the right fit, stay at Community Park: the shows, the entertainment stations and the 2:30 p.m. skydiving finale all happen there.

Downtown Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat TrailTwo full hours collecting candy at dozens of downtown businesses. Start at Davis Commons, where TOMO Tea House, Bruxie, Mom’s Dumpling, Mikuni, Shabu Shack, Xfinity, and My Burma are all handing out sweets, then carry on into the rest of downtown.

Davis Commons: start the Treat Trail hereStart your Trick-or-Treat Trail at Davis Commons. The businesses there are handing out candy: TOMO Tea House, Bruxie, Mom's Dumpling, Mikuni Japanese Restaurant, Shabu Shack, Xfinity, and My Burma. Grassy picnic space with tables and chairs, so it is a good place to regroup before you work your way through the rest of downtown.

Winters Scarecrow Fest

Businesses and houses all over Winters put up scarecrows and the whole town becomes a competition: spookiest, funniest, best use of recycled materials. You walk around, you spot them, you vote. Voting closes on the 1st of November.

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) – Davis Cemetery District & Arboretum

A public altar and a self-guided visit rather than a hosted event. The ofrenda is up from Thursday 29 October through 2 November, with grave-cleaning supplies, educational signage, and a pathway of marigolds and papel picado set aside for reflection and honoring loved ones. Come any time the grounds are open. The District is also looking for a community member or organization to partner with, and in time to lead the event, hoping to bring an in-person gathering back in 2027.
