The festival is FREE because roughly a hundred people give a few hours each. Marshals keep the parade rolling, HQ answers every question, the kids zone needs grown-ups, and someone has to fold the tents. Pick a shift and we will take care of the rest.

Every one of these spots is a job that has to happen for the festival to run. Most are a couple of hours, none need experience, and you still get to enjoy the day.
Sign up once and you get your own page with your shifts on it, a reminder before the day, and your name on the wall of fame for every year you serve. Children of any age can help with a grown-up alongside them.

These are the jobs a whole group solves in one go, and they are the ones that genuinely save the day. Bring your chapter, your team or your club, take one of these between you, and the festival runs.

Set up 10 canopies, 6 tables and 36 chairs. These are distributed to selected vendors and volunteers at Community Park.

Take down the 10 canopies, 6 tables and 36 chairs at the end of the day and get them back to storage. The festival finishes at 3:00, so this is the last job of Halloween.

Set up and take down the trash and recycling bins and replace bags as needed. There is plenty of downtime to enjoy the festival.

Stand at key points around the festival with a clipboard, a cheat sheet, a map and a clicker counter, and note what the crowd actually does: where people come in, where they bunch up, where they double back, and where nobody ever goes. It tells us how the festival really behaves, which is how next year gets better. No experience needed.
Monster Run Crew1 shift0 of 6 filled
Commit a group of 6 to run the Monster Run alongside the Davis Fencing Academy. It is the first thing that happens on parade day: a laser run course in Community Park where competitors alternate running with rounds of laser marksmanship, racing the clock. Your group sets the course up, works the stopwatches and keeps the time for every participant, and gives the Fencing Academy staff whatever extra hands they need. It is free to enter and the distances adjust by age and ability, so expect seven year olds and grandparents on the same course.
Parade Guides (on bikes)1 shift0 of 6 filled
Ride along the parade route under the direction of our ride leaders (The Bike Campaign and Davis Bike Club). Help wherever needed, and serve as a crossing guard when asked, keeping riders and pedestrians safe.
Skydiving Drop Zone Crew Setup1 shift0 of 6 filled
Commit a group of volunteers to set up and manage the skydiving drop zone: cones, caution tape, and keeping the landing area clear for the finale.

Come to a Planning Committee
The Zombie Bike Parade Committee meets at 4pm on Fridays in the lower hall at the Odd Fellows Lodge, 415 2nd Street in downtown Davis. Open to the public, no experience needed, and you do not need to sign up for a shift first.- Friday, September 11Add to calendar
