The Zombie Mash Afterparty

Not happening in 2026. In past years this was the natural downtown afterparty once Community Park emptied out, most recently at Woodstock's Pizza. It may return in a future year.

The original downtown afterparty tradition, started in 2021 to give the skydiving crowd somewhere to go once Community Park emptied out. It has moved locations several times over the years, from Davis Commons to E Street Plaza to Steve's Pizza, and currently lands at Woodstock's Pizza, where anyone in costume gets a FREE soft drink and a Greg the Zombie plushy raffle keeps the night going.

Past years have added DJ Duc Jones, Fire University fire dancers and even the debut of the StuntMasters BMX show in 2023. It is the natural bridge between the family-friendly festival and the 18-plus Zombie Ball later that night, or the following night depending on the year's schedule.

How it started

Organizers noticed early on that thousands of people leaving Community Park all at once after the skydiving finale represented what the festival's own materials call "a captive audience." Rather than let that crowd simply drive home, the Davis Downtown Business Association began routing them into downtown Davis for one more hour or two of music, treats and local shopping, an idea that has stuck around and evolved every year since.

• Wear your costume to Woodstock's for a FREE soft drink.
• Confirm the current year's location before heading downtown; this event moves more than most.
• If you are staying for the Zombie Ball later, the afterparty is a natural place to regroup with your group first.
