Run. Aim. Repeat. A Halloween laser run at Community Park, two hours before the festival opens, and the first thing happening on parade day.
Take on a course that alternates running with rounds of laser marksmanship. You race individually against the clock, your time goes on the board, and the leaderboards run all morning. It is the modern-pentathlon discipline, in costume, at 8:00 am, in a park.
- Saturday, October 31, 8:00 to 10:00 am
- Community Park, Davis
- Free to take part. Donations to the Berry Athletic Foundation are welcome
- Presented by the Davis Fencing Academy
Who it is for
Kids, teenagers and adults. Distances are adjustable for different ages and abilities, so a seven year old and their grandmother can both have a proper go at it. Families are welcome to come and cheer even if nobody is running.
- Adjustable distances for different ages and abilities
- Individual timed runs
- Charts and leaderboards through the morning
- Top times earn prizes
Why it starts at 8:00 am
The festival itself opens at 11 and the parade rolls at 11. The Monster Run happens before all of that, which means you can run it, catch your breath, and still be on your bike in costume for the start. It makes the day longer and it gives the early risers something to do with the morning.
Signing up
Sign-ups are open. Pick a start time between 8 and 10 am. Drop-ins are welcome on the morning, space permitting.
More about the Monster Run from Davis Fencing Academy
Davis Fencing Academy also run a fencing station at the festival itself, so this is their second thing on the day.
