Davis Odd Fellows Lodge #169

The Davis Odd Fellows Lodge #169 has hosted the Zombie Bike Parade Festival since it began. Chartered in 1870, the Lodge is Davis' oldest continually operating organization, with more than 400 members open to all.

Who they are

The Davis Odd Fellows Lodge #169 was chartered in 1870, which makes it the oldest continuously operating organization in Davis. It has more than 400 members and is open to anyone. The Lodge sits at 415 2nd Street, downtown.

What they do for the festival

They started it. In 2019 the Lodge was toying with an attempt at a Guinness record for a zombie bike parade when Gill Williams, president of NorCal Trykers, came to present the Amtryke program. The Lodge folded the two ideas together and turned the record attempt into a fundraiser for children's adaptive tricycles. Dave Rosenberg, a past Lodge leader, and his wife Lea drew up the blueprint: a completely FREE community Halloween celebration. Guinness declined the zombie category. The festival happened anyway, and has run every year since.

Today the Lodge is the lead host. It is where the volunteer committee meets, it is where the zombie makeup artists set up on the morning of the event, and it hosted the Zombie Ball in 2024 and 2025. The Lodge also handles the money side, which is why sponsors receive their acknowledgement letters through the Odd Fellows.

If you have ever wondered who is actually behind a FREE festival that hands its proceeds to disabled children, this is the answer.
