NorCal Trykers
NorCal Trykers, a chapter of National AMBUCS, provides free custom therapeutic tricycles to children with special needs. It is the festival's beneficiary: seven years of fundraising have delivered 42 trykes.
Who they are
NorCal Trykers is a chapter of National AMBUCS. It builds custom therapeutic tricycles, called Amtrykes, and gives them FREE to children with disabilities. Each one is fitted to the child. Each one costs about $1,200 to make.
Why the festival exists
NorCal Trykers is the reason there is a festival at all. In 2019 their president, Gill Williams, pitched the Amtryke program to the Davis Odd Fellows, and the Lodge turned its zombie parade idea into a fundraiser for it. Seven years of parades have funded 42 trykes, roughly $50,000, and admission has never cost a penny.
The point is not the tricycle. It is that a child who has never moved under their own power gets to, and gets to feel the wind in their hair doing it. Everything else on this website is in service of that.
