The Bike Campaign, founded in 2011 by Maria Contreras Tebbutt, makes cycling available to everyone, including children with disabilities and seniors, through its Bike Garage locations in Davis and Woodland.
Who they are
The Bike Campaign was founded in 2011 by Maria Contreras Tebbutt with a single aim: make cycling available to everyone. That means children with disabilities, seniors, people who have never owned a bicycle and people whose bicycle is sitting broken in a garage. The Bike Garage, its workshop, has locations in Davis and Woodland.
What they do for the festival
They co-host it, and they have from the beginning. The connection is not decorative: a festival about riding a bicycle, raising money so that children who cannot ride one finally can, is exactly what The Bike Campaign exists to do the rest of the year.
On the day, their people are the reason a bike that breaks halfway round the route does not end somebody's afternoon. In 2022 the festival gave $500 straight back to The Bike Campaign.
