The Zombie Siege Game is a zombie-themed game of tag at Community Park, with volunteers explaining the rules and refereeing. It runs most of the afternoon and children drift in and out of it all day.
Mason Harry
It is run, and has been for six years, by Mason Harry, founder of Anarchy Arts. Six years of turning up and spending an entire afternoon refereeing a field full of over-excited children is not a small thing to volunteer for, and doing it well is harder than it looks: the game has to be loose enough that a five year old can join halfway through and structured enough that it does not simply dissolve.
Mason is also a member of the Davis Odd Fellows, who host this festival, and one of the volunteers the committee counts on. A festival like this one runs on perhaps a hundred people, and a handful of them come back year after year and quietly own a piece of it. This is one of those pieces, and he is one of those people.
Refereeing chaos
This station is also a volunteer role on this site. If a field of children trying to catch each other sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon, there is a shift with your name on it.
