Making Davis History with Tethered Balloon Rides at the Cemetery

We did it! Early this morning (8:30–10:30am) we made Davis history with FREE tethered hot-air balloon rides for the community—thanks to our friends at Davis Food Co-op for sponsoring this activity!

We saw more than a hundred smiling faces, families, and kids taking in the view at the Davis Cemetery & Arboretum District. Not everyone could go up, but everyone had a chance to take amazing photos—and those who didn’t ride got to pull the flame at the end!

We also gave away around 50 high-quality raffle prizes, so nearly everyone walked away a winner—that’s our style. And check out that glorious zombie-green hot-air balloon, this was the perfect closing ceremony for our 2025 Halloweekend Festival!

Here are photos of just a few of the people behind the excitement—hundreds more volunteers, sponsors, and crew made this festival all possible. We were honored to have Davis and Yolo County dignitaries join us for remarks, and Norcal Trykers present with their trikes and families who’ve benefited from their amazing work.

This entire festival is by nonprofits and for nonprofits. Huge thanks to Davis Odd Fellows, The Bike Campaign, and The Davis Bike Club—and congratulations to Norcal Trykers, who’ll soon receive a significant donation to keep building custom tricycles for children with disabilities.

Thank you to everyone who came out—some getting their place in line as early as 5am—to make this magical morning possible. What a wild ride this year has been!
