The Zombie Makeup Station
FREE morning-of face painting and makeup at the Odd Fellows Lodge
Arrive without a costume finished, and the Odd Fellows Lodge is where to fix that. The morning-of makeup station has been staffed in past years by Rina Fuller of Colorful Creations by Rina, the festival's own "Mother of All Zombies" and volunteer professional makeup artist, along with additional face painters for kids.
The minimum look required to compete in the costume contest is simple: marks of stitches or red blood for makeup, or a mask that appears risen from the dead. Most guests do a lot more than the minimum, and the Lodge station is built to help.
A festival tradition since year one
Face painting has been part of this event since its very first year, when a ten-year-old named Nicole Garcia offered $2 to $5 zombie looks at the original 2019 shoot, having learned the craft at the Jelly Belly factory a few years earlier. The station has grown up alongside the festival since then, and Rina Fuller's own FREE makeup table at the Zombie Ball is a direct descendant of that same do-it-yourself spirit.
Tips
- Go early; the line builds as the parade start time approaches.
- Bring reference photos if you want a specific look; artists can usually work faster from an example.
- Simple looks, stitches and blood marks, take just a minute or two if you are short on time.
