The Toys for Tots Halloween Train
FREE rides around Community Park on a rented electric trackless train
Debuting in 2025, the Halloween Train offers FREE rides circling Community Park to Nightmare Before Christmas music, all day long. Yolo County Supervisor Lucas Frerichs made it happen by renting the California Dream Express, a family-owned, custom-built electric trackless train out of Vacaville, and partnering with Toys for Tots Yolo County, whose logo is, fittingly, a train.
For 2026, organizers are calling it the "Saturday festival headliner," a promotion from its debut-year status to one of the day's marquee attractions. It is FREE, requires no wristband or sign-up, and tends to be one of the fastest-moving lines in the park for younger kids who want a ride without pedaling.
Who makes it happen
The train itself is electric and trackless, meaning it drives on the park's own paths rather than a fixed rail, which is part of why it can circle Community Park safely alongside pedestrians and cyclists all day. Toys for Tots Yolo County staffs a table nearby, giving the train a second job beyond entertainment: it is a rolling reminder of a holiday toy drive that starts right as Halloween ends.

- Ride length is short, a loop of the park, so lines move quickly even when they look long.
