The Giant Octopus DJ Party
A festival landmark from 2022 to 2025. Not running in 2026.
There is no giant octopus in 2026. It costs real money to bring, and this year the budget would not carry it. It is here because it was one of the best things this festival has ever had, and because it will come back the first year we can afford it.
DJ Mellax and Davis Rave Co. would take over a corner of Community Park with a sound system and an enormous inflatable octopus, and that corner became the dance floor for the whole afternoon. Costumed strangers, small children and grandparents, all of them dancing under the tentacles of a several-storey cephalopod in a public park on a Sunday. It was the loudest and happiest place on the site, and like everything else at this festival, it was FREE.
If you want it back, sponsoring the festival is the thing that brings it back. That is not a figure of speech: this is exactly the kind of attraction a sponsorship pays for.
